The VA Showcase, held in Virginia Beach, will feature top high school athletes from across the U.S. – and even Jamaica this year.

The 2025 installment of the elite invitational set for Jan. 17-19 will include a variety of top races across sprints, distance and relays that you won’t want to miss.

Drawing comparisons to the USA vs. Jamaica rivalry at The Penn Relays, One race to watch closely is the Girls Championship 4x400m Relay on Friday.  It will serve as a rematch of the High School Championship of America 4x400m from the 2024 Penn Relays that saw Hydel (JAM) narrowly beat Bullis School (MD) at the finish. Hydel and Bullis will both be competing at the VA Showcase, making for an exciting showdown.

Quincy Wilson, a fan favorite, is always a crowd-pleaser, and he’ll also be taking his talents to the VA Showcase this weekend. Whether it's his thrilling performances on the track or his status as an Olympic athlete at just 16 years old, the Bullis star never fails to entertain. He will be defending his title in the boys 500m, aiming for the national record, and is also expected to compete in the mixed 4x400m relay.

The Girls 200m also promises to be a highly competitive race. Top entries include West Warwick’s (RI) Lisa Raye, Dasia Reed of Montverde Academy (FL)  and London Jackson Bray of Katy (TX), all of whom had impressive outdoor seasons last year and have broken the 24-second barrier.

Raye is also set to run the 60m, where she will face off against other elite sprinters like Payton Payne, Maya Love and Celeste Robinson, each of whom has run sub-seven-second performances. Between the 200m and 60m, get ready for an exciting sprint battle.

In the Invitational Boys 1k, the race is on national record watch with Cole Boone of Pulaski County (VA) in the field. Boone recently opened his season with an impressive 2:23 performance—solo. He will face strong competition from Bullis' Colin Abrams, making for an anticipated matchup that could produce a fast time and possibly challenge the national record.

The VA Showcase is shaping up to be an event to remember, and you can follow every race and catch the action live on MileSplit and FloTrack.
