Niagara hosts Alaska Anchorage and Sacred Heart welcomes No. 18 Cornell to Martire Family Arena.
The latter features one of the conference’s top storylines, as Sacred Heart head coach C.J. Marottolo is seeking his 200th career win – all of which have come at SHU.
The 58-year-old accepted the job just before the 2009-10 season and earned his first win on Oct. 24, 2009. He’s amassed those 199 wins over 14 seasons behind the Pioneer bench and has two seasons with 20 or more wins, and he’s over halfway to that total this winter.
Sacred Heart (11-8-3, 10-6-2) currently sits atop the AHA standings with 35 points through 18 conference games. Marottolo’s club also received four votes in this week’s USCHO Poll after getting two in the final poll before the break.

The Pioneers are coming off a loss to Air Force but are still 4-1-1 over their past six, and Sacred Heart currently leads Bentley by five points and Niagara by six – although Bentley and Niagara have played four and three fewer AHA games respectively.
Several Pioneers are enjoying individual success too, headlined by junior forward Felix Trudeau – who leads the conference with 23 points through 22 games. Trudeau is also tied for the AHA goal lead with 11 and freshman goaltender Ajeet Gundarah has an AHA-best .926 save percentage.
Sacred Heart hosts Cornell on Friday at 7 p.m., giving Marottolo a chance to reach the milestone on home ice.
Here are some of the other top storylines this week in Atlantic Hockey.
Men’s Hockey
- Bentley received 13 votes in this week’s USCHO Poll, which was the sixth-most votes among teams outside the top 20. Bentley owns an AHA-best plus-14 goal differential in conference play.
- Robert Morris is now averaging 3.73 goals per game in conference play as the Colonials have lit the lamp 41 times in 11 AHA games.
- AIC defeated Army on Tuesday night, 8-2. AIC forward Justin Mexico had a five-point night with two goals and three assists, while goaltender Chase Clark made 49 saves in the win.
- Niagara goaltender Pierce Charleson is averaging an AHA-leading 33.11 saves per game with 629 through 19 games. Charleson was named the AHA Goaltender of the Week on Monday.
- Five AHA teams have 20 or more points: Sacred Heart (35), Bentley (30), Niagara (29), Air Force (21) and Holy Cross (20).
Katie DeSa made 55 saves between the pipes this past weekend to lead the Nittany Lions to wins over Bemidji State and (3/3) Minnesota.
