The Morehead State cheerleading program has been around since the late 1980s, and most of the time since has been spent contending for national championships. 

The Eagles will have the chance to add to their trophy case when they compete at the 2025 UCA/UDA College Cheerleading & Dance Team National Championship.

The event will take place Jan. 17-19 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.

This event is the culmination of a year of hard work and is the most prestigious event on the collegiate cheer and dance schedule. 

Last year, Morehead State took home the Division IA All Girl Cheer title from Orlando, marking the squad’s 14th win in that category, including 2023. 

The win was the 54th national title overall for Morehead State (53 from UCA and one from NCA). 

The Eagles’ continued success did not go unnoticed or unrewarded, as it was announced in June 2024 that cheerleading head coach Mark Coleman was given a contract extension through the 2028 season. 

Entering this season, Coleman is responsible for leading Morehead State to 19 of its more than 50 national championships. He keeps the team organized, helps coordinates its activities and projects, and even choreographs the routines.

Coleman, who’s entering his 12th season in charge of all of the school’s cheerleading efforts, has guided the MSU all-girl team to six wins at the UCA College Nationals (2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2023 and 2024).

He also has coached the coed squad to UCA national titles in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2023. 

Oh, then there are the partner stunt championships in 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2022. 

Finally, a Division I Small Coed victory in 2023.

• Morehead State will compete in the DI Small Coed Cheer Game Day semifinals on Jan. 17 at 9:10 a.m. (AdventHealth Arena – North).
• Morehead State will compete in the DI Cheer semifinals on Jan. 18 at 2:46 p.m. (AdventHealth Arena – South).
• Morehead State will compete in the All Girl Cheer semifinals on Jan. 18 at 9:34 a.m. (AdventHealth Arena – North).
• Morehead State will compete in the DI Small Coed Cheer semifinals on Jan. 18 at 12:34 p.m. (AdventHealth Arena – North).

How To Watch UCA College Nationals 2025

The entire event is streaming on Varsity TV and the new FloSports app beginning Jan. 17. 

Event replays, highlights and breaking news will be available on both platforms. 

The rebroadcast will stream on Varsity TV on a delay of 24 hours.
