The most exciting time of the year is here for college football fans: the postseason. This past week, the regular season for Division II and III ended.

FCS still has a week left to play, but a few pieces of the season-long puzzle have already been solved.

Here's what to know as we head into the final stetch of FCS college football.

Notes From The Week In FCS Football

  • Richmond clinches a share of CAA title - After a win over Hampton and losses by Villanova and Stony Brook, the Spiders have already clinched a share of the conference title. The only team now that could also share the title is the Rhode Island Rams. Richmond can, of course, put those dreams to bed for Rhode Island if they win against William & Mary this week for an undefeated CAA record and the first outright title since 2019.

  • Rhode Island dodges a bullet against UAlbany - Unlike Villanova and Stony Brook, the Rams avoided an upset that took them out of the race to win the CAA. Still, they came extremely close to falling to UAlbany, as they were down 17-0 at halftime before scoring 20 unanswered points. For Rhode Island to secure a share of the CAA title, they have to win and Richmond has to lose their game.

Winner Of The Week: Montana State Football

  • Montana State defeats UC Davis - The Montana State Bobcats came away with a hard-fought win this past week in a No. 2 vs. No. 4 matchup against UC Davis, 30-28. The win kept them undefeated, and they will finish off their season against rival Montana.

Loser Of The Week: Villanova And Stony Brook Football

  • Both teams see CAA chances fade - The Wildcats and Seawolves were upset when they lost to Monmouth and New Hampshire this past weekend in close one-possession games. These losses will bring both teams to their third loss of the year and put the CAA title out of reach for both teams.
