This season marks a new era for the University of Washington women’s basketball team, which will be joining the stacked Big Ten Conference for the 2024-2025 campaign.

The Huskies will kick off their season at home against Seattle University on Nov. 4, but perhaps the earliest test of their new journey will come during the week of Thanksgiving when they travel across the country to the Bahamas, where they could face up to two top-10 teams. 

Washington will be part of the four-team 2024 Baha Mar Hoops Pink Flamingo Championship that is being held Nov. 25-27 at the Baha Mar Convention, Arts & Entertainment Center in Nassau, Bahamas.

Washington will play LSU on Nov. 25 (1:30 p.m. Eastern) and then will meet either North Carolina State or Southern in the championship or consolation game Nov. 27.

Washington finished the 2023-2024 season with a 16-15 record overall and a 6-12 mark in Pac-12 competition, despite opening the year with 11 consecutive wins. The Huskies lost to Arizona in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament but did receive a bid to the inaugural Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament. 

The tournament invite marked Washington’s 28th postseason appearance in 50 seasons, but the experience was short-lived, as the Huskies fell to Georgetown in the opening round, 64-56. 

The Huskies will embark on a new journey this season as part of the loaded Big Ten, which now will include 18 teams from coast to coast. Along with Washington, the conference is welcoming Oregon, UCLA and USC.

The Big Ten had 14 teams last season, with Ohio State winning the regular-season title and Iowa winning the conference tournament.
