Last season, Long Beach State went 21-15, won the Big West Championship and made it to the 2024 NCAA Tournament before being ousted by Arizona in the first round. It was their first foray into March Madness since 2012.

This year the Beach will try to improve on that mark, beginning with an early-season tournament in Henderson, Nevada, the 2024 Ball Dawgs Classic. 

Joining The Beach will be UTEP, San Jose State and UNC Greensboro. The Miners went 18-16 last season and lost in the Conferenece USA Championship game to Western Kentucky, who went on to the NCAA Tourney. San Jose State had a down year, going 9-23, while UNC Greensboro went 21-11, losing in the first round of the SoCon conference tournament.
