A week after both teams scored major lopsided wins in stunning fashion, Maine and Rhode Island meet in a massive New England clash that the entire FCS will be watching on Oct. 26.
Maine blasted a then No. 5-ranked Villanova team 35-7, a loss that dropped the Wildcats nine spots in the FCS Coaches Poll.

Meanwhile, Rhode Island crushed New Hampshire, 26-9, in a top-25 showdown that propelled Rhode Island to No. 16 in the rankings, up just one spot in the rankings.
Maine (4-3, 2-2) still has plenty of work to do if it wants to climb back into the rankings and the FCS playoff picture. Meanwhile, the Rams (6-1, 3-0) are moving closer to snapping one of the longest playoff droughts in the FCS– Rhode Island hasn’t played postseason football since 1985.
And the CAA clash is streaming live and for free as part of FloFootball’s special preview on social media platforms, including YouTube. Here’s what to know.

Maine: Destroyer Of Seasons
- The Blacks Bears have played spoiler twice already this season.
- UAlbany, who went to D2 playoff semifinals last season, were ranked No. 21 when they were summarily dismantled by the Black Bears, 34-20.
- Last week, Villanova got the treatment. The then-No. 5 Wildcats lost 35-7 to a Maine team that went into the contest with a 3-3 record.
- Rhode Island enters with a 6-1 record, the No. 15-ranked team. It's one of the best seasons in recent memory.
A Group Of Rams Is Called A Flock
- Kind of disappointed there isn't a more specific name for a group of rams, but I suppose they are just male sheep.
- However, this group of (Rhode Island) Rams is putting it all together with a team effort.
- There aren't many splashy stats from URI so far this season. They just continue to win.
- The exception is two defensive players.
- AJ Pena, who has 24 tackles, 11 TFLs and 7 sacks.
- And Cole Brockwell, who has 66 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
