A week after barely surviving against Saginaw Valley, back-to-back champions GVSU face a daunting threat in conference rival Ferris State, who has been dominant and steadily improving each week. Ferris State looks like a clear favorite after a series of dominating wins after their early season stumble. Meanwhile, GVSU certainly has been struggling to put teams away. 

But it is a rivalry game with plenty of history and in these situations all bets are off the table. To make it even more interesting, the previous No. 1 team in the country, Harding, took an unexpected loss and has dropped out of the Top 5. This means previously No. 2 GVSU has slotted in at that spot. Now they face No. 3 Ferris State, a team looking to make their claim at the No. 1 spot after bulldozing their way past every team in front of them the last several weeks.

Meanwhile across the GLIAC, Northern Michigan is still hunting for their first win in nearly 20 games as they face a Michigan Tech team looking to get back on track after struggling the past two weeks. Saginaw Valley is another team that has looked strong as of late and is hoping to rebound after their heartbreaking loss to GVSU.
