The Minnesota Gophers wrestling team will begin their season on Nov. 9 when they travel to Boone, NC, to wrestle in the Mountaineer invite.

Minnesota is ranked No. 9 in the NWCA preseason poll and No. 19 in the FloWrestling preseason rankings.

There will be two returning All-Americans for Minnesota: Vance Vombaur (No. 8 at 141) and Isaiah Salazar (No. 6 at 197). It doesn't stop there for the Golden Gophers, as they have many other ranked wrestlers on the roster that include Virginia Tech transfer Copper Flynn (No. 9 at 125), Tyler Wells (No. 10 at 133), Drew Roberts (No. 24 at 149), Tommy Askey (No. 10 at 157), Andrew Sparks (No. 13 at 165), Missouri transfer Clayton Whiting (No. 13 at 174), Max McNelly (No. 11 at 184), and Bennett Tabor (No. 24 at 285).

Big Ten competition will start for the Gophers on Jan. 11 against Nebraska and will kick off the gauntlet of competition for the rest of the conference. Their toughest projected opponent is No. 2 Iowa on Feb. 14.
