Ohio State wrestling will begin its season in two weeks with the annual wrestle off before the first regular season match against Chattanooga wrestling.

The No. 5 ranked team in the FloWrestling's preseason poll finished 8th last season and is firmly in the NCAA trophy race for the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships.

The Buckeyes will be looking forward to their six returning All-Americans and 11 national qualifiers. Chief among the six All-American returners is Jesse Mendez (141) who won the 2024 NCAA Championship. Mendez could be just what Ohio State needs to bring another trophy back to Columbus.

Brendan McCrone (No. 17 at 125), Nic Bouzakis (No. 12 at 133), Jesse Mendez (No. 2 at 141 and No. 8 in pound for pound), Dylan D'Emilo (No. 13 at 149), Paddy Gallagher (No. 9 at 157), Rocco Welsh (No. 3 at 174), Ryder Rogotzke (No. 18 at 184), Luke Geog (No. 18 at 197), and Nick Feldman (No. 3 at 285) are all ranked in the top 20 of their weight classes.

The Big Ten competition will start on Jan. 10 when they take on the Illinois Fighting Illini. The two biggest matchups for the Buckeyes this season will be when they travel to the Carter Hawkeye Arena to face Iowa, who has a history of winning multiple national championships in their own right, and when they have the mighty Penn State Nittany Lions visit their home at the Covelli Center.
