Round 1 - 10-0 win over Anthony Montero, VEN

Dake came out in the first period and converted on a takedown right away and transitioned to a gut wrench to take a 4-0 lead just 20 seconds into the match. After the first flurry, Dake stayed content in the handfight for about a minute before finishing quickly on another takedown and two guts to close out the match with a 10-0 tech.

Quarterfinals - Fall (11-1) over Younes Emami, IRI

Dake forced his underhook early and the action went to the edge in the seatbelt-whizzer position - Dake dropped to the leg, and finished out of bounds for two on exposure. Dake got back to a single leg and earned another point on a stepout to go up 3-0 with a minute to go in the first period. Emami picked up his pace at the end of the first and pressured forward to earn his own stepout to make it 3-1 with 30 seconds left. Dake hit a single with only 10 seconds left in the first and finished quickly for a takedown to hold a 5-1 lead at the break.

A minute into the first, Dake hit a nice cross ankle pick and finished quickly for a takedown. Dake transitioned immediately into a gut to go up 9-1. Dake continued to hold position and handfight but Emami got in on a single with a minute to go. Dake caught Emami in a chest wrap, took it through, and trapped Emami on his back to get the fall and move onto the semifinals.  

Semifinals - 20-12 loss to Daichi Takatani, JPN

Dake got to a low ankle attack less than 20 seconds into the match and finished quickly for a takedown to go up 2-0. Takatani responded with a nice low single and Dake used a chest wrap to earn exposure but Takatani comes out on top to cut Dake's lead to 4-3. Takatani hits another low-level attack and finished putting Dake in danger. Some odd scoring but Takatani came out with a 9-4 lead at the break.

Dake came out early in the second with another takedown to gut to cut the lead to 9-8. However, Takatani responded with another low single and locked up a lace to extend his lead to 15-10. Takatani continued to get to Dake's legs and after another exchange, Takatani's lead moved to 20-12. Takatani will wrestle for gold while Dake will wrestle for bronze on Saturday.

Bronze Medal Match - 10-4 win over Khetik Tsabolov, SRB

Dake got to a single leg early off a misdirect, brought the leg up off the mat, and walked Tsabolov out for a step out to lead 1-0. Not much action took place for the rest of the first period and Dake held a 1-0 lead at the end of the first.

Madness went down in the second period. Tsabolov was put on the clock and drove Dake to the out-of-bounds line but Dake attempted to stay grounded. They initially didn't award any points and another point went on the board for Dake. However, after about 15-20 seconds of wrestling, the official stopped the bout and then took a point off the board for Dake, giving Tsabolov a point on the stepout. Dake's corner challenged but the official let wrestling continue and Tsabolov scored a takedown to go up 3-1 with 48 seconds to go in the match. After the takedown, they went back to review the initial step out and gave Tsabolov another point off the failed challenge. It was an incredibly chaotic moment - the officials lost control of the process and Dake trailed 4-1.

After wrestling finally continued, Dake blitzed forward and his pressure was too much for Tsabolov, Dake earned the takedown to make it 4-3 Tsabolov. Dake blitzed forward again off the start and got to rear standing for a HUGE DAKE BOMB for 4 points and a turn. Dake wins his second career bronze medal in a wild match!
