The seventh event of the 2024 Wanda Diamond League season, known formally as BAUHAUS-galan, will see many of the world’s top track and field athletes make the quick turnaround and short trip from the recent Diamond League event in Oslo, Norway.

BAUHAUS-galan first was held in 1967 and has been part of the Diamond League landscape since the circuit’s debut in 2010. The event is held each year at the Stockholm Olympic Stadium, and the 2024 edition will take place June 2.

The 2024 Diamond League season kicked off at the end of April with a pair of stops in China – Xiamen and Shanghai/Suzhou – and then rolled through Qatar on May 10, Morocco on May 19, Eugene, Oregon (Prefontaine Classic), on May 25 and Oslo (Bislett Games) on May 30.

During the 15-event Diamond League schedule this year, athletes will cross the globe, with the season-ending championship event taking places in Brussels, Belgium, on Sept. 13-14. There will be a short break in the schedule for the 2024 Summer Olympics in early August.

The Diamond League Stockholm 2024 (BAUHAUS-galan) will include seven men’s disciplines and seven women’s disciplines, as athletes continue collecting points toward the year’s final event in Belgium. 

The invitation-only Diamond League brings together the most elite track & field athletes to showcase their skills, earn prize money, collect points toward the season-ending championship event and ultimately elevate the status of athletics across the globe.

Traditionally, Diamond League competition includes a slate of 16 disciplines, though not every meet features all of them. 

Points accumulated during the first 14 events of the season determine the athletes who advance to the final event, where they compete for more prize money and Diamond League titles.

The disciplines featured in Stockholm in 2024 will be:

Men

• Pole Vault
• Discus
• 400-Meter Hurdles
• 100 Meters
• 800 Meters
• 3,000 Meters
• 3,000-Meter Steeplechase

Women

• Shot Put
• High Jump
• Triple Jump
• 100 Meters
• 200 Meters
• 1,500 Meters 
• 400-Meter Hurdles

The 2024 BAUHAUS-galan, like all Diamond League events, will feature a variety of Olympic and world champions and record holders, including pole vault world record owner Armand Duplantis, who hails from Sweden.

As Duplantis aims to break his own record of 6.24 meters, which happened at the season-opening Diamond League event in Xiamen, the competition in Stockholm will be loaded with four athletes with personal bests over 6 meters and five who have medaled at the World Championships.

The men’s discus will be a who’s who, featuring Olympic champions Daniel Stahl of Sweden and Andrius Gudžius of Lithuania, plus European champion Mykolas Alekna, also from Lithuania, among others. 

Two women to keep an eye on in Stockholm are 200-meter specialist Shericka Jackson of Jamaica, the second-fastest woman in history and a multi-time world champion, and Femke Bol of the Netherlands, who won the 400-meter hurdles world championship in 2023 and won gold again in 2024 at the World Indoor Championships. Bol won the overall Diamond League 400-meter hurdles title in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Stockholm Olympic Stadium was a centerpiece of the 1912 Olympics. It also hosted the equestrian portion of the 1956 Summer Olympics. While venues for prior Olympics often were temporary and torn down, the Swedes had long-term plans.

Now a historic landmark, the venue has withstood the test of time and is the oldest past Olympic arena still in use. 

Even more noteworthy is that as much as it still is used for top-tier events and the world’s best athletes, it’s also open to the public, so it can be used by Sweden’s hobbyists and recreation lovers. As of late, it also has become a home for professional soccer.

How To Watch The Diamond League Stockholm (BAUHAUS-galan) 2024

For audiences in the United States, live coverage of the one-day event will be provided by Peacock and NBC, and the action will get underway at noon Eastern. It is one of six Diamond League events this year being broadcast on Peacock and/or NBC.

What Is The Diamond League Schedule For 2024?

The 2024 season, the 15th edition of the Diamond League, got started a little earlier this year, and the overall champions will be determined over two days in Brussels, Belgium. 

The break in the schedule below from late July into late August is due to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. The athletics events there are scheduled to take place Aug. 1-11.

Based on past releases, the schedule for the 2025 season will be announced in late September 2024.
