Players to Watch
Quinten Perilli, Elizabethtown Pitcher and Utility
A rare playmaker who can change a game both on the mound and at the plate, Quinten Perilli built on a remarkable 2023 in which he won D3Baseball.com's All-Region of Rookie of the Year with a sensational sophomore campaign.
Perilli heads into the Landmark Conference Tournament on a nine-game hitting streak, including two games with multiple hits to close the regular season. A home run in the regular-season finale against Lycoming added to his Landmark-leading total at 13.
Perilli has also been effective coming out of the bullpen with a 2.40 ERA and 13 strikeouts over 15 innings pitched.
Roman Tozzi, Catholic Pitcher
Southpaw starting pitcher Roman Tozzi was close to unhittable in the 2024 regular season. His final month produced three appearances in which Tozzi did not allow a run, including one of his two one-hitters thrown over the final two appearances.
He went seven innings with six strikeouts giving up one hit May 3 against Scranton, coming on the heels of striking out a season-high-matching 10 in 5 2/3 in a one-hit, one-run performance against Lycoming.
Tozzi has an ERA of just 1.82 with an opponent batting average of a staggering .138.
Aidan Casey, Scranton Middle Infielder
In a Scranton lineup with five batters who have .300-plus averages and made at least 100 plate appearances, Aidan Casey stands out. His .337 average is second-best among that group. Over a stretch of six games in the Royals' final eioht, he delivered at least one hit including a run of three straight multiple-hit outings.
Along with Casey's ability to reliably get on base, he's a threat once aboard. Casey's swiped 20 bases and been caught just once, making him one of the Landmark's most dangerous base-runners.
Tony Rossi, Third Base
Tony Rossi came into the 2024 season batting .343 for his college career, and only improved in his third season with Susquehanna. He heads into the Landmark Conference Tournament batting a remarkable .409 to lead the Riverhawks, is slugging .653 with a 1.154 OPS, and has a .500 on-base percentage.
Once abord, Rossi is a terror with 26 stolen bases on 27 attempts.
