The Lenoir-Rhyne Bears captured their first SAC Softball Championship title since 2013 as they swept Anderson with a 3-2 win.
The Lenoir-Rhyne Bears captured their first SAC Softball Championship title since 2013 as they swept Anderson with a 3-2 win.
The Bears recorded six straight wins in the tournament, taking game one of the championship series in extra innings on Friday and securing the crown with Sunday's victory.

Led by Madison Wilson in the circle, who allowed just two runs and five hits, and Lani Warren's two-run homerun, the Bears recorded their 9th SAC Tournament win in program history.

With the win, Lenoir-Rhyne received an automatic bid in the NCAA Tournament and will make their 26th NCAA appearance and their thrid straight next week. The Bears earned the No.4 seed in this year's NCAA Southeast Regional and will open regional play with No. 5 seed Lander on Thursday.
No. 1 seed Wingate and No. 8 seed Anderson are the other two teams in the regional. The double-elimination tournament starts on Thursday with the winner advancing to the super-regional.
