Amine joined the Wolverine program for the 2019-20 season out of local prep powerhouse Detroit Catholic Central, joining his cousins Malik and Myles Amine on the squad.
After a successful redshirt campaign, Amine earned a spot in the varsity lineup and the NCAA podium, placing seventh at the Championships in his first varsity season. Amine placed fourth the next two seasons before finishing one match shy of All-American status at the most recent NCAA tournament in March.
The Wolverines have a talented freshman coming off redshirt to fill the 165 void in Beau Mantanona, although they also have an opening at 174 following the departure of Shane Griffith.
Additionally, the Maize and Blue recently acquired the services of Chase Saldate from the transfer portal, a four-time qualifier from in-state rival Michigan State with one year of eligibility remaining, however, he would likely stay at 157-pounds where he has wrestled his entire varsity career.
There is also the possibility that Amine stays in Ann Arbor and he and Mantanona divvy up the 165/174 spots between them.
