Villanova Softball Continues Conference Play Vs. Georgetown
Villanova softball will look to maintain it's BIG EAST conference lead as they begin a three-game set against Georgetown.
Villanova softball, the BIG EAST’s current leader, which is currently gunning for its third trip to the NCAA Tournament in four seasons, will be trying to keep its unblemished conference record this season going against Georgetown.
The Hoyas need a spark as they're currently stuck at the foot of the BIG EAST standings.

The Wildcats (15-11) are on fire as of late, winning seven straight games entering this weekend with a perfect 6-0 BIG EAST record following series sweeps over both Seton Hall and Providence to start conference play.
UConn is the only other team in the league which has not lost to a BIG EAST foe yet—with the Huskies having played three fewer games than ‘Nova—as the Wildcats will look to keep their foot on the gas and go to 9-0 in BIG EAST play with another sweep this weekend.
In comparison, Georgetown’s (10-16) start to BIG EAST play hasn’t gone as well, and the Hoyas enter this weekend’s series on a five-game losing streak which included a sweep at the hands of Seton Hall. The good vibes from a six-game winning streak in February are fading, and GU needs to string together some victories against conference opposition to get back in the hunt for qualification to the BIG EAST Championship in May.

Player to Watch: Tess Cites, Villanova
The reigning BIG EAST Player of the Year is as good as advertised once again, and it’s no shock that Villanova’s surge to start conference play has her name written all over it.
Batting .347 with five home runs and 14 RBIs across 26 games to start the season, Cites has crossed home plate eight times over the past four games (including four times alone in the Wildcats’ blowout non-conference win over Saint Joseph’s on Wednesday) as a second straight season of batting over .350 looks well in the cards.
If her recent history against the Hoyas is any indication, Cites could feast this weekend. In an outing last March against Georgetown, Cites went 4 for 5 from the plate with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored in one of the best single-game performances of her award-winning season a season ago.
