Charleston Men's Basketball was seeded No.13 on Selection Sunday matching them with No.4 Alabama in the first round of the 2024 Men's NCAA Basketball Tournament. This is Charleston's second consecutive year in the tournament and the Cougars will look to escape the first round against one of the nation's best programs.

Last year, Alabama made it to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament where they lost to No. 5 San Diego State, The same SDSU who beat Charleston in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

Alabama has made the NCAA Tournament consecutively since 2018. The Crimson Tide's deepest run was reaching the Elite Eight in 2004. 

Their run ended last year in the Sweet Sixteen with a 71-64 loss to No. 5 San Diego State.

Alabama finished fifth in the SEC this year with a record of 13-5 prior to the SEC Tournament and are 21-11 on the season. In the first round of the SEC Tournament, Alabama lost 102-88 against Florida.

When Does The 2024 NCAA Tournament Start?

The tournament will begin with Selection Sunday on March 17, followed by the First Four on March 19-20. 

After the opening round is complete, the field will be set with the top 64 teams and the first round will start on March 21-22.
