Arizona State Baseball Schedule 2024: What To Know

Arizona State baseball boasts an illustrious history that sets the course for its future. The Sun Devils began a new era in the post-pandemic landscape, which reaches a pivotal point this season. 

Arizona State's 2024 schedule is among the most daunting in college baseball, including a trip to Globe Life Field, home of the reigning World Series champion Texas Rangers, for Weekend 3 at the Kubota College Baseball Series. The Sun Devils will play Texas A&M twice during the showcase. 

Before the Sun Devils head to Texas, get to know more about the program heading into 2024. 

How Did Arizona State Baseball Do In 2023?

After a rebuilding year in 2022, during which the Sun Devils slipped to 26-32 and near the basement of the Pac-12 Conference at 13-17, Arizona State rebounded in 2023. 

Last season's Sun Devils finished 32-23 overall and on the right side of .500 in the stacked Pac-12 at 16-13, good for fifth. 

Who Coaches Arizona State Baseball?

Arizona State alum Willie Bloomquist became the Sun Devils head coach in 2022. 

Bloomquist won Pac-10 Player of the Year during his time playing at Arizona State and helped the Sun Devils to the College World Series. He now aims to return to Omaha as the program's coach. 

Has Arizona State Ever Won The College World Series?

Yes, Arizona State has won five College World Series in program history. 

Arizona State's first College World Series win was in 1965, the first of three in five seasons. The 1967 and 1969 Sun Devils added two more titles. Their fourth championship came in 1977, and the last was won in 1981. 

Notable Returning Players

Jacob Tobias, INF

Jacob Tobias debuted at Arizona State with a flourish in 2022, hitting .277 with seven home runs in 170 at-bats. 

He stepped up his production at the dish in 2023, batting .317 with a .546 slugging percentage and 10 home runs. 

Ryan Campos, C 

One of the most consistent batters in the Arizona State lineup the previous two seasons, Ryan Campos followed up a .357 freshman campaign with a .388 average in 2022. Campos also homered eight times in his 160 at-bats. 

Notable Newcomers

Mario DeMera, INF 

After a breakout season for the University of San Francisco in 2023, Mario DeMera joins the Arizona State roster for 2024. 

DeMera hit .346 in 185 at-bats with an .863 OPS and nine stolen bases. 

He earned All-West Coast Conference recognition for his outstanding junior campaign. 

Jaden Alba, RHP 

Jaden Alba headlines Arizona State's freshman signing class. 

Perfect Game ranked Alba in the top 41 of all recruits coming out of Gahr High School in Cerritos, California.
