Notre Dame softball went 30-19-1 in 2023 and advanced to the Fayetteville Regional of the NCAA Tournament. 

The Fighting Irish finished in the middle of the pack of a loaded Atlantic Coast Coast, 

Who Coaches Notre Dame Softball? 

Deanna Gumpf ascended from assistant coach to Notre Dame softball head coach in 2002, and it has been a remarkable two decades for the program since. 

The Fighting Irish have reached the NCAA Tournament every full season since her promotion. From 2009-2016, they had a run of consecutive seasons with 40 or more wins.

Has Notre Dame Ever Won The Women’s College World Series?

No, Notre Dame softball has never won a Women's College World Series title. 

The Fighting Irish have been mainstays of the NCAA Tournament in coach Deanna Gumpf's tenure, making the field 24 consecutive seasons. 

A breakthrough to the national championship is the aim for one of the most talented Notre Dame lineups ever this coming season. 

Notable Returning Players 

Karina Gaskins,  INF

Preseason All-American Karina Gaskins returns after a stellar 2023. 

Gaskins hit .348 with a team-leading 15 home runs a season ago en route to first-team All-ACC recognition. 

Her .741 slugging percentage was tops among Fighting Irish batters and among the best in the conference. 

Carlli Kloss, C

Carlli Kloss, the reigning ACC Defensive Player of the Year, shined at the plate and behind it a season ago. 

Her postseason plaudits were the result of uncanny reliability at catcher, which included a near-50% rate of putouts on stolen-base attempts. 

As a hitter, Kloss delivered a .341 batting average with a team-leading 14 doubles. 

Kloss also was dangerous on the base paths with nine steals on 11 attempts. 

Notable Newcomers

Alexis Laudenslager, P

Princeton transfer Alexis Laudenslager arrives at Notre Dame with an impressive resume that includes back-to-back Ivy League Pitcher of the Year honors. 

Laudenslager is coming off a 2023 in which she compiled a 2.13 ERA in 141 innings of work. She struck out a whopping 179, while limiting opposing batters to a .200 average.

Kami Kamzik, P/1B 

Kami Kamzik, a 2023 high school All-American, was among the most dominant pitchers at any level of the game last spring, putting together a sub-1.00 ERA at Central Cambria in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania. 

Kamzik's versatile repertoire should help her find a fit as a batter or pitcher for the Fighting Irish in 2024.
