Georgia senior Zoesha Smith dominated Columbia, scoring 18 points and the Bulldogs limited Columbia star Abbey Hsu to just 10 points as Georgia won its opening game at the Baha Mar Hoops Pink Flamingo Championship in Nassau, Bahamas. 

The Bulldogs led 37-29 at halftime, but the defending Ivy League regular season champions stormed back to take a 47-46 led heading into the fourth quarter. But the Bulldogs started the quarter on a 14-0 run to put the game out of reach. Georgia outscored Columbia 27-9 in the final frame. 

Georgia won 73-56.

Smith, a valuable role player for the 4-1 Bulldogs started the first two games for Georgia, but came off the bench the past two before returning to the starting lineup in the Baha Mar opener. She shot 8-for-11 and grabbed 7 rebounds. 

Abbey Hsu, Columbia Women’s Basketball Go Cold In Second Half

Columbia star Hsu, who is on the Naismith Watchlist and set the record for most 3-pointers in a season, scored 10 points in the first half, but none in the second. 

Hsu set an Ivy League record with 112 3-pointers in a season in 2022-2023. So far her senior season is off to a good start. She came to Nassau averaging 21.3 points per game in four contest while averaging 37 minutes a game and 7.5 rebounds. 

Her shooting stroke, however, has been a bit off, starting the year shooting just 25.8 from long distance, but she was 1-for-1 the Lions crushed Georgia. She shot 3-for-12 overall against the Bulldogs.
