The Missouri Wrestling team enters the 2023-2024 season with high expectations as the No.4-ranked team in the FloWrestling preseason rankings. After finishing fifth in the 2023 NCAA Wrestling Tournament, Mizzou, the defending Big 12 Tournament champs, returns five All-Americans and NCAA champion Keegan O’Toole.

To capture coach Brian Smith’s first national championship, the Tigers have to navigate a challenging schedule that includes dual meets against Cornell, Virginia Tech and Arizona State before facing Oklahoma on Dec. 1 to start the Big 12 season. 

Missouri will also compete a the Tiger Style Invite in Kansas City. The Tiger Style Invite will stream live on FloWrestling and the FloSports app. 

Leading the way will be O’Toole, the No.2-ranked Pound-for-Pound wrestler in the FloWrestling rankings. 

O’Toole is seeking his third NCAA championship at 165-pounds. O'Toole is one half of one of college wrestling's most fun rivalries as O'Toole and Iowa State star David Carr have gone-head-to-head throughout their careers. Carr is the No.3-ranked Pound-For-Pound wrestler. 

Beyond him, Mizzou’s roster is loaded. Brock Mauller, Peyton Mocco, Rocky Elam and Zach Elam are all returning All-Americans.

Keegan O'Toole is featured on a FloWrestling film "Funky 2.0: Keegan Levels Up," which was released in March of 2023. 

The film details O'Toole's journey through the Askren Wresting Academy and onto Missouri. 

When Is Missouri Vs. Iowa State Wrestling?

Last year, O'Toole and Carr had one of the best matches of the year in the regular season. Then they did it again in the Big 12 Tournament and finally again in the NCAA Tournament. 

Carr won in the regular season and at the Big 12 Tournament, but O'Toole beat the former 157-pound champion in the 165-pound final at the NCAA Championships.  

The two will likely meet again in one of the most anticipated matches of the year on Feb. 25, the final dual meet of the season for Missouri.

When Is the 2024 Big 12 Wrestling Tournament? 

The Big 12 Wrestling Championships are at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The BOK Center hosted the 2023 NCAA National Championships. The BOK Center hosted the championships in 2023 as well. 

What College Wrestling Teams Are In the Big 12?

The Big 12 wrestling members are different from other sports. Despite being in the Southeastern Conference for other sports, Missouri competes in the Big 12. The SEC doesn’t have wrestling as a sport. It has been determined if Oklahoma, which is leaving the Big 12 in other sports after the 2023-2024 seasons, will remain in the conference for wrestling.
