The Ohio State wrestling season begins in October as the Buckeyes embark on a tough schedule. Here's what to know about the OSU wrestling schedule.
The Ohio State Wrestling team, the program profiled in the FloWrestling Series “Young Bucks,” will kick off the season a little early in 2023.
The No.15-ranked team in the FloWrestling preseason rankings will compete at the Wrestle-Offs on Oct. 26 in Columbus before heading to the Clarion Open in Pennsylvania on Nov. 5, which is streaming live on FloWrestling and the FloSports app.
Ohio State has an extremely difficult season ahead outside of the gauntlet that is the Big Ten slate. OSU will face Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh and Cornell in dual meets while also competing at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.

Ohio State Wrestling has freshman Nic Bouzakis competing at 133-pounds. He is ranked No. 8 in the FloWrestling rankings. Jesse Mendez (No.5 at 141), Dylan D'Emilio (No. 9 at 149), Paddy Gallagher (No. 15 at 157), Bryce Hepner (No. 17 at 165), Carson Kharchla (No. 7 at 174) and Gavin Hoffman (No. 11 at 197) make up a talented roster.
Sammy Sasso Update For Ohio State Wrestling
The Buckeyes have already faced adversity heading into the 2023-2024 season.
Sammy Sasso, a two-time NCAA finalist, suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach in August.
Sasso survived the wound and is recovering, but the status of the talented wrestler at 149 pounds’ for the upcoming season is unclear.
Ohio State wrestling coach Tom Ryan spoke to FloWrestling in late August and said: “He's healing. He's going to live, which was the number one concern...and now it's about getting him back to a place where he can wrestle."
FloWrestling’s ‘Young Bucks’ Series About Ohio State Wrestling Returns This Fall
FloWrestling documented the 2022-2023 Ohio State Wrestling team.
The first two episodes of “Young Bucks,” which follows the talented freshman wrestling class at OSU, were released in April. The remaining series releases this fall with episode three dropping on Oct. 25.

The Big Ten Wrestling Tournament is March 9-10 at the XFINITY Center in College Park, Md.
Last year’s Big Ten Tournament was at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
This is the first time Maryland has hosted the tournament.
When is the 2024 NCAA Wrestling Tournament?
The NCAA Wrestling Championships are March 21- 23 at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo.
