Women's Soccer Games To Watch This Week Oct. 2 - Oct. 8
Here’s a look ahead at the games to watch for the week ahead in the BIG EAST, CAA, GLIAC, SAC and Landmark Conference.
FloFC is broadcasting college soccer matches from NCAA Divisions I, II and III all season long, with each week bringing a new, exciting slate of matchups to check out from its partner conferences.
Here’s a look ahead at the games to watch for the week ahead in the BIG EAST, CAA, GLIAC, SAC and Landmark Conference:
BIG EAST: Xavier vs. UConn
A few days after a top-25 clash (per the most recent United Soccer Coaches poll) against BIG EAST leader Georgetown on Thursday, the Musketeers then immediately are tested again a few days later on the road, making it a potential season defining week for Xavier for better or for worse. UConn, meanwhile, is unbeaten in four conference games and played a scoreless draw with the Hoyas last week on the road as the Huskies’ defense is now up to seven shutouts this season already.
CAA: Towson vs. Monmouth
Near-unstoppable at the moment, Towson has ripped apart the CAA to the tune of six straight wins in conference play by a combined scoreline of 17-6 in that stretch, including a run of 11 goals scored in the Tigers’ past three matches. But can Towson establish that same sort of firepower against the Hawks, who are also unbeaten in CAA play as of this writing and are on an incredible six-game run without allowing a goal? Something’s got to give, right?
GLIAC: Saginaw Valley State vs. Ferris State
Five games unbeaten and four straight shutouts have had the Cardinals emerge as a team that no one in the GLIAC wants to play right now. On the flip side, however, a big win over SVSU might be the spark Ferris State needs in order to get its season back on track after a 1-3-2 start in conference, merely a year after making the national semifinals.
SAC: Lincoln Memorial vs. Catawba
Catawba had a bit of a scare by its lofty standards as it “only” beat Mars Hill 1-0 over the weekend, but the nation’s No. 3 team in Division II still is the most prolific scoring offense in the country at a blistering 41 goals throughout its 9-0 start. But a visit from LMU could turn into a trap game if Catawba isn’t careful; the Railsplitters are off to a 7-2-1 start to the year of their own and have a dangerous playmaker in sophomore forward Alicia Bevins (four goals, three assists).
Landmark: Drew vs. Wilkes
The Rangers were limping a little bit to begin the season, then decided to hit the gas once a 7-0 defeat of Delaware Valley happened last month. Including that game and since then, Drew is 4-0 with a pair of wins in the Landmark, seeing it emerge as one of the Landmark’s early standout squads. It could run wild, even on the road, against Wilkes, which has struggled with consistency issues through the first few weeks of the season.
