WEEKLY AWARDS

CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Maggie Cochran, Northeastern

Sophomore | Forward/Midfield | Cape Elizabeth, Maine / Cape Elizabeth

Cochran scored her first three career goals to give Northeastern in its seventh hat trick in program history in Sunday’s win over Hampton. The sophomore from Maine scored the first goal of the game and added two more in a program-record 10-goal performance for the Huskies.

CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jasmine Hamid, Towson

Senior | Forward | Alexandria, Va. / Bishop Ireton

Hamid notched two goals and an assist in Towson’s 5-3 win over Drexel to stay tied atop the CAA table. Both of Hamid’s goals came in a wild second-half stretch in which the Tigers and Dragons combined for five goals in the final 17 minutes of the contest. Hamid is the first player in the CAA to win multiple weekly awards this fall.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Shae Yocum, Charleston

Junior | Defense | Point Pleasant, N.J. / Point Pleasant Borough

Yocum helped Charleston to a pair of shutouts and an undefeated week that included a draw against one of the league leaders. The junior from South Jersey helped the Cougars blank defending CAA Champion Hofstra on Thursday before Charleston earned a shutout win over Campbell on Sunday. Yocum played all 180 minutes in the 2-0-0 week.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Liza Suydam, Monmouth

Freshman | Midfield | Lancaster, Pa. / Manheim Township

Suydam scored the lone goal of Monmouth’s 1-0 win over Stony Brook on Sunday as part of a six-point weekend for the Hawks. Suydam’s game-winner came in the 59th minute on a rainy Great Lawn as Monmouth climbed to 10 points in the league standings in advance of a Tuesday makeup game.

NEWS AND NOTES

LUCKY 13

Hofstra, Monmouth, and Towson are atop the CAA table at 13 points each entering this weekend’s competition.

The Tigers are 8-1-1 on the year and on a four-match winning streak with the lone loss a 1-0 setback at Maryland, while Hofstra is 7-2-1 and on a seven-match unbeaten stretch, and Monmouth has opened CAA play with five consecutive shutouts after Tuesday’s makeup win over Elon.

WIN, DRAW, OR... NOPE

Five CAA teams - William & Mary, Hofstra, Northeastern, Towson, and Monmouth - enter the week on undefeated streaks of five or more games.

William & Mary (6-0-5) is one of 13 remaining teams without a loss nationally, Hofstra and Northeastern are both undefeated in their last seven matches, and Towson has won four straight with a five-match unbeaten streak overall. Monmouth has shut out its first five opponents of CAA play.

POWERING UP

CAA teams picked up a pair of wins over Power 5 opponents in the opening week. Delaware blanked Syracuse, 1-0, in Newark with Raychel Speicher scoring the game-winner. Hofstra followed with a 1-0 win at Rutgers thanks to a late goal by Olivia Pearse.

The win over an ACC opponent was the CAA’s first since Hofstra over Boston College in 2020-21, while the victory over the Big Ten was the league’s first since Drexel beat Maryland in 2018.

MS. WORLDWIDE

CAA programs were well-represented at this summer’s FIFA World Cup.

UNCW alum Katrina Guillou was part of the Philippines’ first team to play in the World Cup, fellow Seahawk Sydney Schneider suited up as a goalkeeper for Jamaica, and Hofstra’s Diane Caldwell represented Ireland.
