The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Men’s Soccer Players of the Week for games played in during the second week of the 2023 season. Wingate’s Pablo Pozos was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Lenoir-Rhyne’s Juan Basabe was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Pozos, a freshman from Madrid, Spain, had two goals and an assist on the week, leading Wingate to a pair of victories. He started his week with a goal in the 2-1 victory at Belmont Abbey. Pozos followed with a goal and an assist in the 5-1 SAC victory at Emory & Henry.

Basabe, a graduate student from Durango, Spain, recorded his first clean sheet of the season in the conference opener against Tusculum and had four saves on the week. This marks Basabe’s 15th career clean sheet.
