What Happened To Micah Shrewsberry?
Last season, under Micah Shrewsberry, Penn State had a 23-14 record, finishing as runner-up in the Big Ten Tournament and making its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2011.
After leading the Nittany Lions to what was their best season in more than a decade, Shrewsberry left to become the head coach at Notre Dame.
Following Shrewsberry’s departure, center Kebba Njie transferred to follow his coach to Notre Dame.
Who Is The New Head Coach Of Penn State Basketball?
After losing Shrewsberry to Notre Dame, Penn State hired Mike Rhoades.
Prior to taking the Penn State job, Rhoades coached at VCU for the last six seasons.
Under Rhoades’ leadership, VCU made three NCAA tournament appearances, winning the Atlantic 10 regular season championship twice and winning the Atlantic 10 conference tournament this past season. During his tenure at VCU, the Rams never had a losing season.
Rhoades is a Pennsylvania native who is familiar with Pennsylvania high school basketball. Fans hope that his Pennsylvania roots will have an advantage for in-state recruiting.
