Penn State’s high-powered 2024 recruiting class added a double boost Monday when the Nittany Lions secured commitments from Wisconsin high school juniors Cole and Connor Mirasola. 

The Nittany Lions were out to an early lead for the #1 recruiting class after landing three of the top seven prospects on the 2024 Big Board — #3 Joe Sealey, #6 Zack Ryder and #7 Mason Gibson — and the addition of the Mirasola twins likely cements the top spot for Penn State. 

Additionally, it also signifies Penn State’s venture into a new recruiting territory for the Nittany Lions under coach Cael Sanderson. Penn State has added wrestlers from rival Big Ten backyards in recent years, but this is the first time the Nittany Lions have added a Wisconsin native during the Sanderson era. 

Connor Mirasola, a Fargo Junior freestyle champion last summer, is ranked 11th on the 2024 Big Board while Cole is 21st. Both of the Mirasola brothers take a #5 national ranking — Connor at 182 pounds and Cole at 195 — and 49-2 records into this week’s Wisconsin state tournament.
