WEEKLY HONORS

PLAYER OF THE WEEK 

Skye Williams, Towson

Graduate | Guard | Indianapolis / Tindley 

Williams led Towson to a 2-0 week, averaging 17 points per game on 60% (12-of-20) shooting from the floor. 

The graduate guard scored a team-high 16 points against Delaware, including 10 in the second half, as the Tigers erased an eight-point halftime deficit to defeat the Blue Hens. 

Williams followed the performance with a team-best 18 points on 75% (6-of-8) shooting from the floor in a win over Drexel. She went 4-for-4 from 3 against the Dragons, adding four rebounds, one block and one steal in the effort. 

Williams has reached double figures in eight games this season, and it’s the fourth time she has done so in back-to-back contests. 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK 

Alexa Mikeska, William & Mary

Freshman | Guard | Carlsbad, California / Carlsbad

Mikeska recorded 11 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game, helping William & Mary to a 2-0 week. 

On Friday, the freshman guard scored a career-high 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including 4-of-8 from behind the arc, leading the Tribe to a win over Hampton. She added six rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal against the Lady Pirates. 

On Sunday, Mikeska recorded career highs with seven rebounds and seven assists, adding six points, two blocks and a steal in an overtime victory over Charleston.

CONFERENCE NOTES

AGGIES TAKE OVER FIRST PLACE: Through four weeks of conference play, North Carolina A&T has emerged as the leader in the clubhouse atop the CAA standings. 

The Aggies bounced back from their first conference loss with a 2-0 week to improve to 7-1 in league play. 

It is a tight race in pursuit of N.C. A&T, as four teams following the Aggies have two losses. 

Drexel, Stony Brook and Towson are tied for second at 5-2 in conference play, while Northeastern sits at 4-2. 

Towson has won five in a row, while Northeastern was victorious in four of the past five games. The Huskies and Seawolves both play Towson this week. 

WASHINGTON NAMED TO MID-MAJOR PLAYER OF THE YEAR WATCH LIST: CAA Preseason Player of the Year Keishana Washington was named to the midseason watch list for the 2023 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award by Her Hoop Stats. 

It marks the third consecutive season a CAA student-athlete has made the midseason watch list.  

CAA IN THE COLLEGE INSIDER MID-MAJOR TOP 25: Two CAA teams were recognized in the latest edition of the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll. 

Drexel remained ranked at No. 13, while Stony Brook received votes for the ninth time in 10 weeks this season. 

At least two conference teams have been recognized in the poll each week this season. 

NOTHING BUT NET: Six CAA teams are ranked inside the top 200 in the latest NCAA NET rankings. 

Drexel continues to lead the way, ranking No. 108, followed by Northeastern at 138, which is its best this season. 

Delaware joined the top 150, coming in at No. 149, while Towson was just outside at 151. 

Stony Brook accompanied the Tigers, reaching its best rank this season at No. 170, while North Carolina A&T rounded out the top 6 at 196.

TEAM NOTES

Charleston

• Charleston went 1-1 in a pair of competitive games over the weekend. 

The Cougars defeated Monmouth 70-65 on Friday, before falling to William & Mary in overtime on Sunday, 80-74. 

• Jada Logan contributed 22 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals per game to lead Charleston. 

She scored 27 points and tallied a season-high five steals in the victory, before nearly recording her second triple-double this season with 17 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists in the setback. 

Logan has scored double figures in 15-of-17 games this season. 

• Anika McGarity added 13 points in each contest, with six made 3-pointers. 

The junior has knocked down two 3-pointers in the 14 games this season, with multiple 3s and seven straight. McGarity ranks second in the CAA in 3-pointers per game (2.94) and third in 3-point field-goal percentage (.373). 

• Jaila Roberts reached double figures in back-to-back games with 15 points on Sunday, after scoring 11 on Friday. Both performances came off the bench for the ETSU transfer. 

She has seven games this season with 10 or more points.

Delaware

• Delaware fell to Towson 69-66 on Friday, despite four scoring in double figures. 

The Blue Hens outscored the Tigers in the first and fourth quarters but were outmatched 40-26 in the second and third, which ultimately made the difference. 

• Nakiyah Mays-Prince scored a team-high 12 points to lead Delaware. She went 5-of-9 from the floor, with three assists and two rebounds off the bench. 

It marks the fifth double-digit scoring output for the freshman guard this season and the second in the past three games. 

• Kharis Idom reached double figures for the second straight game and ninth time this season. 

The grad transfer added 10 points, three rebounds and one assist in the effort. 

The last time she scored 10 or more points in back-to-back games came on Dec. 21 and 30. 

• Makayla Pippin and Michelle Ojo added 10 points apiece to round out the list of Blue Hens in double figures. 

Pippin has scored in double figures 10 times this season, including four of the past six games, while Ojo tallied her third double-digit scoring effort in the setback. 

Drexel

• Drexel dropped its second consecutive game, falling at Towson on Sunday, 70-61. 

The Dragons were outmatched behind the arc, shooting 5-of-14, compared to 9-of-17 for the Tigers. 

• Keishana Washington scored a game-high 27 points and matched a season-high with four steals, adding four assists in the effort. 

It marks her 52nd straight game in double figures, tying the Drexel program record. 

In addition, it's her 14th game with 20 or more this season, and she ranks second in the NCAA with 26.9 points per game. 

• Chloe Hodges reset her career-high for the second straight game, recording 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the floor. 

It marks the first time in her career she has reached double figures scoring in back-to-back games. 

Hodges is shooting 87% (20-23) from the floor in CAA play and has only missed three shots in the past seven games.

• Maura Hendrixson tallied 12 assists, marking her fifth game this season with 10 or more. 

The rest of the CAA combined has five such performances. 

Hendrixson leads the conference this season in assists (131) and assists per game (7.7).

Elon 

• Elon dropped back-to-back games, falling to UNCW (62-58) on Friday and Stony Brook (70-56) on Sunday. 

Five of Elon's losses in CAA play have come by less than 10 points, and three were by four or fewer.  

• Raven Preston averaged 10.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game over the weekend. 

The freshman guard tallied 13 points and nine rebounds on Sunday, after eight points and eight rebounds on Friday. 

Preston reached double figures for the sixth time in eight career CAA games and 11th overall, tying her with Evans for the team lead.

• On Friday, Lenaejha Evans paced Elon with 16 points and added four rebounds in the effort. 

It was her 11th game with 10 or more this season, which is tied for the highest on the team. She has reached double figures scoring in three of the past five games. 

• Kamryn Doty and Evonna McGill also scored in double figures over the weekend. 

McGill tallied 13 points on Sunday for her eighth game this season with 10 or more. 

On Friday, Doty added 10 points, marking her third double-digit scoring output. 

Hampton 

• Hampton fell in a pair of conference contests, dropping a road decision at William & Mary (69-54) on Thursday, before an overtime setback at home against North Carolina A&T (75-50) on Sunday. 

• Nylah Young led the Lady Pirates with 14 points, five rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game. 

On Sunday, Young recorded 20 points, seven rebounds, three blocks and two steals. It marks her ninth game in double figures this season and fourth performance with 20 or more. 

• On Sunday, Victoria Mason added 16 points, five assists, five steals and three rebounds in the effort. It marks her fifth game with five or more steals this season.

Mason leads the CAA in steals (53) and steals per game (3.1), recording multiple in 12 games this year.  

• Jermany Mapp and Dlayla Chakolis rounded out the Lady Pirates, who reached double figures. 

Mapp paced Hampton with 14 points on Friday, marking her fourth double-digit scoring effort this season. 

On Sunday, Chakolis added 10 points for her second double-figure output in the past three games.  

Hofstra 

• Hofstra dropped its second straight contest, falling to Northeastern (68-48) on Sunday. 

The Pride led 13-12 after the first quarter, and matched the Huskies in the fourth, but was outscored 42-21 in the second and third quarters combined. 

• Emma Von Essen paced Hofstra with 13 points in the setback. 

The freshman hit three trifectas, adding three rebounds, one assist and one steal. It marks the second double-digit scoring performance for Von Essen this season and her second-highest point total. Previously, she had 17 points against LIU on Dec. 3. 

• Ally Knights added nine points, going 3-for-4 from 3-point range with four rebounds, three assists and one steal. 

Knights has recorded at least three assists in 12 games this season, including four straight. 

She ranks seventh in the CAA in assists per game (3.5).

• Sorelle Ineza also contributed nine points in the effort, while Zyheima Swint led the team with six rebounds and two steals, adding six points. 

Swint has at least five rebounds in 12 of the past 14 games.  

Monmouth 

• Monmouth went 1-1 in a pair of games decided by less than five points. 

The Hawks fell to Charleston on Friday, 70-65, before bouncing back with a 55-52 victory over UNCW on Sunday. 

• Ariana Vanderhoop paced Monmouth with 19 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. 

On Friday, Vanderhoop tallied 14 points and 11 rebounds for her first double-double this season. 

She followed the performance with a career-high 24 points and eight rebounds in the victory. 

Vanderhoop has reached double figures scoring in four straight games and eight times this season.

• Belle Kranbuhl averaged nine points, 6.5 rebounds and three blocks per game over the weekend. 

Additionally, she extended her streak of games with a block to 18. 

Kranbuhl leads the CAA with 40 blocks and 2.1 blocks per game this season. 

• On Friday, Bri Tinsley and Lucy Thomas also reached double figures scoring by adding 13 points apiece. 

Thomas was 5-of-7 from the floor and tallied six rebounds with two steals. 

It marks the 11th double-digit scoring output for Tinsley this season and the sixth for Thomas. 

North Carolina A&T

• North Carolina A&T moved into first place in the CAA standings following a 2-0 weekend. 

The Aggies defeated Stony Brook (68-60) at home on Friday, before an  overtime road victory over Hampton (75-70) on Sunday.

• Jazmin Harris reached double figures in both games, leading N.C. A&T with 15 points and seven rebounds on Friday, followed by 12 points and four rebounds on Sunday. 

The graduate center has scored in double figures in 10 straight games and has a team-best 16 double-digit scoring efforts this season. 

• On Sunday, Maleia Bracone had a career day. 

The junior guard scored a career-high 29 points, made a career-best 10 field goals and matched a personal best with seven made 3-pointers.

Bracone was 10-for-15 from the floor and 7-of-10 from behind the arc, plus five rebounds. It marks her 14 game in double figures and fourth game with 20 or more.

• On Friday, Laila Acox had her best performance in an Aggie uniform, recording a career-high 12 points. 

Acox went 4-of-6 from the floor, adding six rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block in the effort. It marks the first career double-digit scoring effort for the sophomore transfer from East Carolina.  

UNCW

• UNCW split a pair of games decided by four points or less, defeating Elon 62-58 on Friday, before a 55-52 setback against Monmouth. 

With the win, UNCW snapped a 23-game regular-season losing streak in CAA play. 

• Jayde Gamble reached double figures in both games, averaging 16 points per game to lead UNCW. 

She matched a career-high with 20 points in the victory and added 12 points on Sunday. 

She has 10 double-digit scoring outputs this season. She previously scored 20 points against ECU on Nov. 13 this season. 

• Lexi Jackson added 7.5 points, eight rebounds and three blocks per game over the weekend. 

She nearly recorded a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds against Elon. 

Jackson has at least one block in 12 of the past 13 games, including five straight. 

The junior center is second in the CAA with two blocks per game and has 11 games this season with two or more.

• On Sunday, Carrie Gross tallied a career-high 25 points, shooting 10-of-19 from the floor and 5-of-5 from the charity stripe. 

Gross has reached double figures in 12 games this season, including four of the past five. It marks her third game with 20 or more. 

Northeastern 

• Northeastern defeated Hofstra 68-48 in CAA action on Sunday. 

The Huskies outscored the Pride 42-21 in the second and third quarters, after trailing by one point at the end of the first quarter.

All four Northeastern wins in league play have been by more than 10 points. 

• Deja Bristol paced the Huskies with a career-high 16 points in the victory. 

Bristol was nearly perfect from the floor, shooting 8-of-9, while adding five rebounds. It marks her fifth game this season with at least 10 points and her first since the CAA opener on Dec. 30.

• Derin Erdogan matched a team-high with 16 points, shooting 6-of-10 from the floor and 4-of-6 from behind the arc. 

Erdogan added three assists, two rebounds and two steals in the effort. 

The junior guard has reached double figures a team-best 14 times this season, including nine of the past 10 games. 

• JaMiya Braxton reached double figures for the fourth straight game, recording 13 points against the Pride. 

Braxton was 3-of-6 from 3-point range, marking her fourth consecutive game with at least three trifectas. All of her double-digit scoring performances have come in the current four-game span.

Stony Brook 

• Stony Brook went 1-1 in a pair of road games over the weekend. 

The Seawolves topped Elon 70-54 on Sunday, after a 68-60 setback against North Carolina A&T on Friday. 

All five wins for Stony Brook in CAA play have been by 10 or more. 

• Annie Warren paced Stony Brook scoring 22 points per game. 

She tallied a game-high 25 points in the setback, before a team-high 19 in the victory. 

Warren has scored in double figures in nine straight and 13 times this season. She has at least 15 points on all 12 occasions, including seven games with 20 or more. 

• Sherese Pittman added 16.5 points and nine rebounds per game. 

The sophomore forward tallied 20 points and eight rebounds on Friday, before 13 points and 10 rebounds on Sunday. 

Pittman has at least 10 points in nine of the past 10 games and a team-best 14 this season. 

Sunday was her fourth double-double this year.

• Gigi Gonzalez averaged 10 points, 7.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game. 

The senior guard recorded 18 points, five assists and four steals in the victory. It came after a career-best 10 assists on Friday. 

Gonzalez ranks second in the CAA in assists (77) and assists per game (4.3) this season.

Towson 

• Towson extended its winning streak to five games following a 2-0 weekend. 

The Tigers defeated Delaware 69-66 on Friday, before a 70-61 win over Drexel on Sunday. 

Towson moved into a three-way tie for second place after the weekend. 

• Skye Williams led Towson with 17 points per game on 60% (12-of-20) shooting. 

Williams scored a game-high 16 points on Friday, before a team-best 18 on Sunday. 

Williams has reached double figures in eight games this season, and it was the fourth time she has done so in back-to-back contests. 

• Kylie Kornegay-Lucas added 13.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 3.5 assists per contest. 

She reached double figures in both games, marking 18 games with 10 or more this season. 

Additionally, she is fifth in the CAA in scoring (15.4 ppg), fourth in assists (four per game) and second in steals (2.6 per game), the only player in the top 5 in the league in all three categories. 

• On Friday, Patricia Anumgba tallied 13 points, while Alexia Nelson recorded 13 on Sunday.

 It marks a career-best for Anumgba, while it was a season-high for Nelson. It was the third double-digit scoring effort for each player this season. 

William & Mary

• William & Mary went 2-0 over the week, defeating Hampton 69-54 on Thursday, before an 80-74 overtime victory over Charleston on Sunday. 

With the win on Sunday, the Tribe has won three straight games.

• Sydney Wagner contributed 15 points per game, reaching double figures in both contests. 

Wagner scored 20 on Sunday, after 10 on Friday. 

The graduate guard has reached double figures in 15 games this season, including seven in a row. Additionally, she has scored 20 or more on four occasions.

• Alexa Mikeska averaged 11 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game throughout the week. 

The freshman guard tallied a career-high 16 points against Hampton, before setting career-bests with seven rebounds and seven assists at Charleston. 

Friday was her first career game in double figures scoring. 

• Bre Bellamy and Rebekah Frisby-Smith also reached double figures in both games for the Tribe. 

Frisby-Smith had 12 points and nine rebounds in both games, while Bellamy averaged 13.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. 

It marks the first time this season that either player has scored 10 or more in back-to-back games.
