Drexel's Washington On Watch List For Becky Hammon Mid-Major POY Award
Drexel standout Keishana Washington was selected to the midseason watch list for the 2023 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award.
Drexel University women’s basketball standout Keishana Washington was selected to the midseason watch list for the 2023 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award, announced by Her Hoop Stats Wednesday morning.
The graduate guard continues to garner national praise after being named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Year watch list by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association a week ago.
Washington ranks second in the nation, scoring 26.9 points per game, and she is fifth in total points (457).
The CAA's top scorer has reached double figures in 51 straight contests, recorded at least 20 points in 13 games and tallied 30 or more points on seven occasions, including a conference-high and program-record 42 points against Penn State on Dec. 18.
Washington’s impact extends further than scoring, as she ranks second in the CAA in assists (70) and assists per game (4.1), while sitting third in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.59).
An integral part of the Dragons’ success, Washington has logged 592 minutes and is second in the league in minutes per game (34.74).

The Pickering, Ontario, Canada, native is joined on the 2023 Midseason Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Watch List by Destinee Wells (Belmont), McKenna Hofschild (Colorado State), Abbey Hsu (Columbia), Brynna Maxwell (Gonzaga), Yvonne Ejim (Gonzaga), Kiki Jefferson (James Madison), Sam Breen (UMass), Savannah Wheeler (MTSU), Katelyn Young (Murray State), Alex Fowler (Portland), Isnelle Natabou (Sacramento State), Myah Selland (South Dakota State), Quinesha Lockett (Toledo) and Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu (South Florida).
The midseason watch list includes representatives from 14 schools and 11 conferences.
This marks the third consecutive season a CAA student-athlete has made the midseason watch list.
Florida Gulf Coast University’s Kierstan Bell won the award in 2022 and 2021, after Ciara Duffy of South Dakota was the inaugural winner during the 2020 season.
Award Eligibility & Schedule
To be eligible for this award, players must compete in one of the 26 conferences deemed to be "mid-major."
The following conferences are considered high-major for the purposes of this award, and thus ineligible: ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12 and SEC.
In October, the 25-player preseason watch list was announced. The 10 semifinalists will be announced in February, with five finalists being announced in early March. The winner will be announced in late March.
The list is fluid, and players may play their way on or off the list over the course of the season.
